THE CHURCH IS KEY IN UNITING PEOPLE FOR PEACEFUL AND MEANINGFUL DEVELOPMENT. BY BISHOP ELECT. DR BRIGHT OTSO

...As Lighthouse Communion Church International pledges to transforming lives and redefining destinies of many through God's word.

Dr Bright Samuel Otso, The metropolitan Bishop Elect of the above named Pentecostal Church situated in Jos Plateau State, Nigeria has acknowledged the critical role of the church in unifying citizens towards overcoming the numerous challenges confronting the State.

The UN Global Peace Ambassador Dr Reverend Bright Otso stated this on Tuesday while addressing the September 2023 History Makers International Conference & Bishopric Consecration committee members in Jos Plateau State comprising of Pastors from various churches and ministries in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

He maintained that the best strategy to resolve the challenges in the country is for the people to be united as one and tackle the issues as they come.

"In the cause of politicking, politicians always use every instrument at their disposal including divide and rule and I know there was a lot of attempts in that regard in the build up to the recent elections.

"Denominations are artificial creations but the body of Christ is one, If there is any agent that must play the key role in uniting the Nation, it is the Church. I believe that the more we deemphasized our differences and look at the things we have in common, we will be able to unite our people.

"By the grace of God, we are committed to changing the narrative in the country and when we succeed, everybody irrespective of Creed or denomination will benefit. By the grace of God, we came, saw and we will conquer.

He stated: "We will not rest on our oars, we shall Pray Until Something Happens (PUSH), until Nigeria is secured and regain her place in comity of nations.

We therefore want to plead with everyone of us, let's be advocates of a true narrative of the situation in Nigeria. The nation is not at war, it is a sudden invasion of ignorance, 'superiority' complex, misunderstanding, conflicts and mishaps as a result self centeredness, greediness and egocentrism that beclouds some few individuals couple with viruses of corruption, criminality, religion and ethnic bigotry to mentioned but few.

I want to use this medium and opportunity  appeal to all a sundry to sheath their swords and embrace peace.

🍲 *SHABACH YESHUA ENDLESS GOODNESS DAILY DEVOTIONAL* Wednesday 12th July 2023 ____ *TOPIC:* *MAKING FRIENDS*

🔑 *KEY VERSE:*

"A man that hath friends must show himself friendly, and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:2a)

📖 *TODAY'S READING:*

1 Samuel 18:1-4

📜 *ONE YEAR BIBLE STUDY PLAN*

Amos 1-5

 *COMMENTARY*

I hear some people say, "I have no friends." No one does not have a friend. Everyone, both good and bad has a friend. There is nothing bad in making friends except that we should be careful of the kind of friends we keep. There are good and also bad friends. One may ask who are good friends and how do I know them? Good friends are true friends and by their words and character, we know them.

Good friends build and encourage while bad friends hurt, corrupt, and destroy. Good friends are trustworthy, selfless, and true confidants while bad friends betray and disappoint. A friend that betrays and disappoints is not a true friend. Jonadab Amnon's cousin was a true picture of that kind of friend. He destroyed Amnon with his wrong advice to have sex with his (Amnon) half-sister, Tamar (II Sam. 13).

A true friend loves and helps in times of need. Jonathan was a true

friend to David. He loved David and saved his life when his father Saul planned to kill David. When he understood that David was going to be the next king he submitted to him (1 Sam. 18:1-4). We need such a friend who will encourage us to fulfill the will of God for our lives.

Making friends can make or mar. What kind of friends do you keep?

Some people come to make you while others come to mar you. Watch the kind of friend you keep. Friendship is a choice and do not be coerced into it. Anyone who cannot add value to your life should not be your friend. You cannot be better than your friend. Someone

said, “Show me your friend and I will tell you the kind of person you

are." The Bible admonished us to walk with the wise so that we can be wise too (Prov. 13:20). Be wise in your choice of friendship.

🎚 *CONTROLLING THOUGHTS*

Be wise in your choice of friendship.

🙏🏿 *PRAYER*

Dear precious Holy Spirit of God, I beseech thee to connect me to friends who will add value to my life and help me to achieve God's purpose for my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen

Mangu Killings: GOC, 3 Division Relocates Base To Troubled LGA

The killings in Mangu Local Government area of Plateau state have forced the military hierarchy to take measures to stop the current attacks by armed men on some communities in the local government area.

Maj.-Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar, the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), on Sunday temporarily relocated the headquarters of the operation to the Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Maj.-Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar, who doubles as the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba, moved to the area barely 24 hours after he assumed command.

The decision followed a Saturday night attack on the Sabon Gari community of Mangu LGA, where 12 persons were killed and six houses completely razed down.

According to the commander, the move would enable him to work in synergy with the local authority to mitigate the situation.

“’ I have relocated the headquarters of OPSH here so we can work with the local authority.

“We will stay here until we stabilize the situation

“The governor is disturbed by the happenings, and that is why I am personally here to lead my troops.

“We won’t allow the situation to deteriorate further. We are not here to joke; and so we will be decisive, fair, and firm,” Abubakar said.

NAN also reports that communities in Mangu have recently come under a series of attacks, with many deaths recorded, properties and farmlands destroyed, and many persons currently displaced.
