Russia Taking Over Africa?

41 African Countries Sign Military Agreements With Russia

Russia has signed agreements for military cooperation with over 40 African countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday in St Petersburg.

Putin announced during the second and final day of the second Russia-Africa Summit, saying “We are developing partnerships in military and military-technical cooperation with more than 40 African states to strengthen the defense capabilities of the countries."

“African states received a wide range of weapons and technology, some for free. Some of these deliveries are provided on a gratuitous basis to enhance the security and sovereignty of the countries.”

Putin also announced that Russia would assist the countries in their efforts to free themselves from the “vestiges of colonialism.”

What will the West do now?

I think African leaders are confused. Russia which is not a model of development is the one Africa is looking up to. We don’t know the name to give to their system, communist, socialist, or kleptocratic.

A country where atheism still thrives.

A bully which invaded its neighbor Ukraine but has not been able to defeat that small country.

Ask any African if given the choice whether he would prefer to go to the Western countries or Russia and the answer is obvious.
