OPEN ADVICE TO PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU-Bishop Dr. Bright Otso

The Presiding and Metropolitan Bishop of The Lighthouse Communion Church International, Jos His Lordship, The Rt Rev Dr Bright Samuel Otso, who is also a UN Global Peace Ambassador, have a piece of advice to Mr. President of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu on handling the ongoing protests against #BadGvernanceInNigeria, he address the root causes and effects of the protest.

These are key points I wish you to adopt your Excellency:

1. *Listen to the People:*

As peace maker and advocate, I advise the President to genuinely listen to the grievances of the protesters. This includes understanding the root causes of their dissatisfaction, such as corruption, bad economy policies, Reduce cost of governance, unemployment,  insecurity etc. Listening shows respect and can help de-escalate tensions. It doesn't make you weak but strong.

2. *Promote Dialogue:*

Engaging in open and sincere dialogue with protest leaders and civil society groups can lead to constructive solutions. I  suggest forming a committee to address the concerns raised by the protesters and include representatives from various groups.

  3. *Avoid Violence:*

I strongly advise against the use of force to suppress the protests, as this could lead to further unrest and loss of life. Instead, the focus should be on peaceful resolution and ensuring the safety of all citizens.

4. *Implement Reforms:*

A key piece of advice could be the need for tangible reforms in governance. This might include tackling corruption, improving transparency, and addressing socio-economic issues. I also emphasize that long-term peace and stability can only be achieved through genuine change.

5. *Rebuild Trust:*

I encourage the President to take steps to rebuild trust between the government and the people. This could involve accountability for past actions, delivering on promises, and ensuring that the government is truly working in the best interests of the citizens.

6. *Pray for Guidance:*

As a Christian stakeholder and leader, I suggest that the President seek divine guidance and wisdom in handling the situation, emphasizing the importance of moral leadership in times of crisis.
