Philippians 4:6

*MESSAGE*

The Greek word for peace is "Eirene" which refers to the quietness of

heart and mind based on the assurance that all is well between the believer and his God regardless of the storm that rages. Peace means calmness, tranquillity or equanimity of the mind despite war, tribulations and hardships, without one being anxious, restless, agitated, or losing sleep. These positive experiences can only be supernatural and not ordinary, as a result of the workings of the Holy Spirit within a believer.

In John 16:33, Our Lord Jesus says in Him we shall have peace though there shall be tribulations in the world, while those outside Christ may need man-made tranquillizers to sleep or calm down in tribulations. Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus, the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6), gives us the peace that the world cannot give and because of this our hearts cannot be troubled (John 14:1,27).

All the things that trouble our hearts are everywhere now, including how to meet our many needs vis-a-vis scarce or limited resources or means. Several economic principles such as the scale of preference and opportunity cost may fail us and peace becomes elusive while anxiety and sleeplessness prevail and devastate us. Given this, the Bible warns against being anxious but to pray with thanksgiving about all our needs, the result being that the Holy Spirit will inundate our hearts with the peace that is beyond human understanding, peace

the world can neither experience nor explain (Phil. 4:6-7). The world can only give the false peace of RIP to everyone, including the wicked when they die. Sadly, the Bible says there is no peace for the wicked in this life or that which is to come (Isa. 57:21; Rom. 3:17).

Peace is so important that apart from the Lord who promised to give it to all His followers. St. Paul lavishly prays for it and wishes it for all the Saints in all his Epistles, from Romans to Philemon, either at the beginning or closing or both. Every child of God should experience peace with God, with fellow human beings and above all within himself or herself no matter how troublous the times and

situations might be through the indwelling and working of the Holy Spirit. This peace begins from repentance from sin following which comes forgiveness, justification, adoption, sanctification and being filled with the Holy Spirit. (Rom. 5:1-2, etc). No one or institution can make meaningful progress without peace. We need peace in our lives, homes, nation and institutions or else wars and conflicts which precipitate incalculable damage.

🎚 *CONTROLLING THOUGHTS*

Peace is not the absence of war; it is a virtue, a state of the mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence and justice.

πŸ™πŸΏ *PRAYER*

Oh Lord my Father, fill our hearts with your peace no matter the storms in the world. In the name of Yeshua the Christ. Amen
