*NEGLECTING THE NEEDFUL*

🔑 *KEY VERSE:*

"But one thing is needful and Mary has chosen the best part; it will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:42, NET).

*TODAY'S TEXT*

Luke 10:38-42

*MESSAGE*

Life is structured in such a way that everything is not equal in importance and relevance. It is only the careless and naive that dabbles into life issues without consideration.

Our text is an account of the Lord on a visit to Bethany where Mary and

her sister Martha lived. Martha was distracted by all the preparations

she had to make. Mary sat at Jesus' feet to learn from Him. After a while, Martha scampered complaining of Mary's absence from the domestic chores. Expecting an open buffeting on the sister but Jesus rather turned to her and reprimanded her for indiscretion. We are all products of our individual choices. Everyone should always enlist the help of the Holy Spirit and ensure the backing of the Word of God as we go about life.

A little mistake can result in dire consequences. We should always streamline our life opportunities to help us make wise choices.

We can learn from the life of this Great General - Alexander. He was born in Macedonia in 336 BC by King Philip ll of Macedonia. His father was murdered by conspirators when he was 20. He ascended

the throne and finished off the conspirators. He then went to war and

conquered the whole of Asia, Persia, Greece, and Egypt after reaching

Babylon in 323 BC. He was contemplating on further empires remaining to defeat.

He had a sudden attack of fever. It was too insignificant to be given

attention since he had defeated the whole world. The following day, he was dead. The man nobody in the world could dare was swept off by fever. He did not give attention to little things. Zachariah cautioned, "Who dares make light of small things?" (Zachariah 4:10). Jesus concluded to the Pharisees, you ought to have done the first but do not neglect the second. From little things, the greatest often grows.
