*COMMENTARY*
To press forward entails doing something continually in a determined way and getting ahead in the process. Pressing forward in Christ means having faith in Him and making Him the central focus of your thoughts and actions. Apostle Paul asserts that he was pressing forward in service to Christ until that final day. Understanding that God would not fail to complete the good work of salvation begun in him; he enjoins us to seek to know Jesus in every way possible. Pressing forward calls for setting goals.
A life without a goal is like the captain of a ship without a map and a compass. His ship will just drift aimlessly from day to day hoping to arrive somewhere. The apostle Paul set for himself a goal. He pressed forward toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus and that was his goal. He had a clear direction of where he was going and he was focused on the Lord.
This Year set a goal and act on it. Let your goal be your road map and
depend on the Lord to provide the direction. Make a clear declaration of faith, saying "This is what I am going to do for the Lord" and then press forward. "Do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal" (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).
As you live your life daily, walk in the consciousness of this truth. See challenges as stepping stones to greater heights. The enemy will try everything he can to get you to stop, but you cannot stop.
Whether you have to run, walk, or crawl, keep pressing forward.
