*COMMENTARY*

Misplaced priority can be seen as giving more priority to something that indeed should require less priority from a person at a point in time. Misplacing priorities lead to losing that priority which was supposed to be the most important. This suggests we have priorities that should always be put first if our life is to be deemed meaningful. It could as well be termed as distraction.

We often meet distractions on our path to a glorious destiny. If we make mistakes in setting priorities, we may end up losing such wonderful opportunities that God offered to settle our efforts. Gehazi was chosen by Prophet Elisha who succeeded Prophet Elijah. Gehazi was to succeed Elisha as Elisha did succeed Elijah in Israel. Unfortunately,

Gehazi misplaced his priorities. "But Elisha asked him, "Don't you

realize that I was there in thought when Naaman stepped down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to receive money and clothing and olive farms and vineyards and sheep and oxen and servants?

Gehazi, was already in the line of becoming another great Prophet of Israel, but he misplaced his priorities and went for what was less important. The running after and receiving of the offer robbed Gehazi of a future glorious position. Also, Gehazi inherited the leprosy of Naaman.

Distractions are subtle until they accomplish their purpose. Some dangers of misplaced priorities:

 *1. Regrets:* Regrets are negative responses we get when things go wrong either because of our actions, inactions, or failure. Regrets can lead to serious health issues if care is not taken. Often times the only way it can be overcome is if a second chance is given to correct ones wrong, which hardly ever happens and the feeling of regret will keep hunting such person for the rest of his\her mortal life.

 *2. Delay:* The time that is supposed to be spent doing what is of greater

importance is spent on unimportant things and this result in a delay.

 *3. Time wasting:* The time and energy that is supposed to be channelled into whatever your priorities are, is now channelled into something else which will do little or no good for your general welfare at that point in time.

Look well to find out if there is a distraction packaged in form of opportunity. Change your life today; don't gamble on the future, act now without delay.

*COMMENTARY*
One adverse effect of the global pandemic was spiritual slumber and weakness. Many believers were committed Church members. But during the pandemic, there was no worship inside Church buildings, and many fell away being enticed by carnality and the flesh. Besides, many grew weak in prayer, evangelism, and other Christian activities. Instead of being sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit, they became prey to the devil. Are you one of such persons? You need to wake up from your sleep. Awake from your slumber and allow God to refill you again with His strength and might.

Prophet Isaiah spoke to the people of Israel to awake from their sleep. He further expressed God's readiness to restore all they had lost, both spiritually and physically. In doing this, God intended to clothe them with strength and beautiful garments. In addition, God planned to remove yokes from their necks and no unclean and uncircumcised enemy shall come near them. If you come back to God, He will clothe you with new garments again.

Apostle Paul cautioned the Ephesian believers to awake from their coldness and give themselves to Christ which brings light to the world. These brethren were not meant to die shamefully but to arise and shine. He, therefore, encouraged the people to be wise because the days are evil.

Do not be wearied because it is not yet over. The hearts of some Christians are very fragile and can easily be discouraged. When a person is spiritually sleeping and thinks he is well, he cheats himself. Awake from your slumber and allow God to strengthen you again.

*COMMENTARY*

The world tells us that success is being wealthy or popular, but God's Word shows us the true definition of success: a fruitful Christian life. The Bible shows the formula for a successful Christian life.

 *Delight in God's Word.* Remember when you first accepted Christ as your Savior. The Word of God was so fresh and new that you couldn't wait to read it whenever you had the opportunity! It was as if God was personally with you and talking to you directly. You enjoy reading and listening to the Word of God. As we become older Christians, our dedication and devotion become an easy ritual and no longer a true relationship with God. When we truly delight in the eternal things of God, our desires will begin to parallel His, and we will never go unfulfilled. Matthew 6:33 says, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things [the necessities of life] will be given to you as well."

 *Meditate on God's Word.* What keeps you busy all day long? Is it a job, a family problem, or a financial burden? Instead of dwelling on the negative problems of life, focus on the Word of God. Memorize the promises of encouragement from God and ponder them all day long. Post notes of Bible verses that God has given you around your house or in the car, and listen to sermons while driving or doing house chores. You may post pictures of your favourite verses in your room. Meditating on God's Word will change your mind and give you God's view of life.

 *Be Diligent and invoke supernatural intervention.* Within our control, one of the most important principles of God's formula for success is dedication to work and diligence. Be diligent so that you can make obvious progress for everyone. This was a very simple formula that Joshua was familiar with. He realized that he had to do everything in his power to succeed. So he was able to march all night, fight all day, and fight all day after God stopped the sun. It was

diligence. Moreover, he did not try to succeed on his own. He understood that supernatural intervention was needed. That is why he used God's power source, prayer and then God sent hailstones and caused the sun to stand still. Human efforts alone do not lead to true Success

PRIDE YOURSELF IN HIS ABILITY

 

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He

that abideth in me, and l in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing (John 15:5)

The Lord said, "...without me ye can do nothing. By your human ability, ingenuity, wisdom,

skills and competence, you can't achieve anything Therefore, never pride yourself in your seeming human abilities.

 Trust in the Lord.

Your success is wholly dependent on your connection

to the Lord. Your competence is of Him (Read 2 Corinthians

3:5 AMPC). No wonder Paul made his boast in the Lord,

saying, "l can do all things through Christ which

strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13). He didn't say

can do all things because I'm so knowledgeable"; no. It's

about Christ and who He is in you-His ministry in and through you.

It brings to mind the story of Asa in 2 Chronicles 14. The Bible tells us Judah was invaded by an army of a million men and three hundred chariots. King Asa and his

the army was completely outnumbered. 

Asa realized that the only way to victory was to completely rely on the Lord.

In 2 Chronicles 14:11, Asa cried unto the LORD his God in heartfelt prayers, and said, "...LORD, it is nothing

with thee to help, whether with many or with them that

have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name, we go against this multitude.

O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee."

The Lord responded and gave Judah a remarkable victory: "So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled"(2 Chronicles 14:12). Now, here's something to notice about

Asa: he didn't sit idly by, thinking, "Whatever will be will

be"; he took action. Your step of faith is important. Having

prayed, Asa and his army charged against the enemy forces and got victory. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your divine power that works

in me mightily. I'm excellent, and I have an excellent life!

I can do all things because the power that works in me is

divine, and therefore unlimited. Blessed be your Name

*COMMENTARY*

Pastor Enoch Adeboye told a story of an encounter he had with the late spiritual giant, Kenneth Hagin, in 1974 which changed his life completely and helped to make him the spiritual giant that he is today. He went to see Papa Hagin in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, with five other Nigerian pastors.

On getting to Hagin's office, he asked them what they wanted him to do for them. The people that went with him laid out their requests ranging from his permission to sell his books, magazines, and tapes in Nigeria to other business opportunities. He granted them their requests. When it was his turn, Adeboye told Hagin that he wants everything that is in him that made him who he was. Hearing this, Hagin asked him to kneel down and then he placed his hands on Adeboye's head and prayed that the spiritual power of God in him be transferred to Adeboye.

This reveals the fundamental force that drove the young Pastor Adeboye's life, determining what he desired and how he was prepared to go about securing such desires. For Paul, as we see in

the scriptures we read today, and for Adeboye, as we see in his

story, the overriding motivation was to bond with Christ, to know more of His power, to accomplish the purpose for which he called him, and to at last be with Him wherever He is in eternity.

To Paul, to live is Christ. What is it to you? Is it the pursuit of gain/wealth/power/fame/success/significance that is now a valid excuse to stay away from the church and develop a new theology about work as worship? For Paul, the ultimate gain is to die in Christ. What is the ultimate gain for you? Is it to become a billionaire? Please never forget that what drives you determines where you end up in life. You can't be driven by carnal things only and end up in the spiritual Kingdom of our loving God.

Welcome to two thousand and twenty three, the year of the Word of God, The Impossible is Nothing!

"Until the time that his word came; the word of the Lord tried him." PSALM 105:19

"He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."PSALM 107:20

A Pastor friend of mine once said to the Lord, “Lord, You know I believe in divine healing, but no one in my church is receiving. What’s the matter?” The Lord said to him, “Why don’t you preach on it?”

So he started preaching on divine healing, and his whole church got healed. Before, nearly all of them were sick. But they all got healed. That’s what happens when the Word of God is preached. The Word of God is what does the work, not stories or your word. The Word Works!

Words are container of seeds, either negative or positive seeds. We  are affected by the words we hear and speak—whether it’s truth or untruth, faith-filled or faithless word. You could listen to someone talk who is worried and oppressed. And when you left his presence, you’d feel oppressed yourself. Some people are so full of doubt and unbelief that the very atmosphere around them is charged with darkness. That kind of atmosphere is created by words. Stay around men and women of faith.

Thank God for the Word of God! His Word is His will. Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” Let’s talk about the Word of God. Let’s talk about healing, miracle, breakthroughs, possibilities in 2023 and beyond from the standpoint of God’s Word and watch them coming to pass.

Don’t Base Your Faith on What You Can See

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.—2 CORINTHIANS 4:18

An excerpt taken from Health Food Devotions Authored by Rev.Dr. Kenneth E. Hagins of blessed memory, he said, I remember an Assemblies of God woman down in east Texas who had double pneumonia. This was back in the late 1930s before miracle drugs. She just grew steadily worse. Of course, in those days, we didn’t have the hospitals we have today. Doctors made house calls at that time.

Well, the doctor came and did what he could do. The doctor told the husband that unless there was a change, she would not live past midnight that night. The husband, who wasn’t saved, decided to call the church and ask if some Christians could go over to the house.

The pastor and several members went to the house. They anointed the woman with oil, laid hands on her, and prayed. Now she had been almost unconscious, but she came right out of it and began to laugh and sing in tongues. She sat up in bed and said, “I’m healed. I’m healed.”

The doctor who was expecting her to die that night came back to see her the next day. She was sitting up in bed talking. He listened to her lungs and said to the husband, “I don’t understand it. Her lungs seem to be just as bad as they were. Sometimes I’ve seen people revive right before they die. She’ll die soon.”

He came back the next day and said the same thing. For three days, she sat up in bed, laughed, and talked. She told everyone she met that she was healed. On the third day, every symptom she had disappeared.

Now what if she had based her faith on what she saw or felt—or on what the doctor said? She would have missed it. But she chose instead to believe the Word.

Confession:

I base my faith on what God says in His Word. I don’t base my faith on what I see, hear, or feel.

Things in this sense realm are temporal and fleeting, but things in the spirit realm are eternal and everlasting.

I speak the Word of God. I speak faith-filled, life-filled, breakthroughs-filled, possibilities-filled words that change the  circumstances around me. I refuse to speak doubt and unbelief now and beyond. I say it again, The Impossible is Nothing in 2023

*COMMENTARY*

The question arises: "Since we know that the flesh is always trying to take over our motives, how do we guard our hearts to ward off this constant incursion of self in our motives? The

writers of *Got Questions* blog provide eight specific questions to help us evaluate our motives, which I reproduce here by permission:

1. If no one ever knows what I am doing (giving, serving, sacrificing), would I still do it?

2. If there was no visible payoff for doing this, would I still do it?

3. Would I joyfully take a lesser position if God asked me to?

4. Am I doing this for the praise of others or how it makes me feel?

5. If I had to suffer for continuing what God has called me to do, would I continue?

6. If others misunderstand or criticize my actions, will I stop?

7. If those whom I am serving never show gratitude or repay me in

any way, will I still do it?

8. Do I judge my success or failure based upon my faithfulness to what God has asked me to do, or how I compare with others?

If you provide the right answers to these questions, there is little

chance of falling into evil motives knowing that your life as a whole or the monthly account you give as a pastor, will be finally judged by God who can never be deceived. Those involved in ministry must stay alert to this tendency towards selfishness because ministry begun for pure reasons can quickly devolve into selfish ambition if we don't guard our hearts (Prov. 4:23).

The final answer to the problem of the flesh is to walk in the Spirit. Paul says in Gal. 5:25-26, "If we live in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another." Let your motives glorify and please God.
